| KidSkate
a building block

KidSkate
is designed for young skates, four years old and above, as
an introductory program to help develop basic skating abilities
including balance skills, forward an backward skating, stopping,
turning and agility skills. Once accomplished, these
skaters move into the CanSkate Program. |

CanSkate
is Canada's only national learn-to-skate program. This
program focuses of fun, participation and the development of
basic skill development. You will earn badges and other
incentives as you learn fundamental skating skills.
Lessons are given in a group format and led by an NCCP certified
professional coach. Professional coaches are assisted by
trained Program Assistants. Skaters progress at their own
rate and coaches make sessions active using a variety of
teaching aids. |
| Pre-PowerSkate

Pre-Power
is designed for young skaters, approximately four to six years
of age, who can stand up on skates and move forward (shuffle,
walk or glide) who may not be ready for CanPowerSkate Level
1. Pre-Power helps develop basic skating abilities in a
power skating-specific environment, including balance skills,
forward an backward skating, stopping, turning and agility
skills. |

CanPowerSkate
is an action-packed, high energy instructional power skating
program geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on
balance, power, agility, speed and endurance. Skills,
techniques and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive
format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game
situation. |

-- this is what STARSkate is all about! STARSkate
offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop
fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice
dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive
skating. Skaters have the option of taking Skate Canada
Tests through a nationally standardized testing system and the
option to compete in invitational and non-qualifying interclub
competitions. |

The
Competitive Test Program is a testing program for skaters in
singles, pairs and dance wishing to compete in qualifying events
within Skate Canada. Skaters take test specific to the
discipline (Singles, Pairs and Dance) in which they wish to
compete. Skaters enrolled in CompetitiveSkate learn a
variety of life skills as they progress up the competitive
ladder. These include goal setting, focus, ability to deal
with success/failure, time management and principles of fair
play and sportsmanship. |
